Innovative Office Services understands the importance of location. The woman-owned office solutions company, focused on pairing companies with furniture that meets their office needs, already had 10 locations in three states when it began thinking about adding a footprint in downtown Minneapolis.
The more Innovative Office Solutions learned about and saw the benefits of being downtown, the more they were convinced they wanted to be here.
“We really enjoy the food and entertainment,” Innovative Office Solutions CEO Jennifer Smith said, “but the energy of being on the street level has been the most thrilling element that’s different than our other locations.”
Innovative Office Solutions officially celebrated its move to downtown Minneapolis earlier this month with a ribbon cutting and open house showcasing their new street-level location at 5 and Marquette. Their new downtown office is a 7,076-square-foot space will have 12 employees stationed there full-time with 60 others splitting time with other locations. At any one time, the downtown space can house 50 employees. It is part office space, part experiential showroom to highlight its vision for helping its clients create a welcoming and functional environment.
Aside from the energy downtown provides, Innovative Office Solutions saw the potential for business development all around them. Thanks to their location in the heart of downtown—near clients, prospects, commercial real estate groups and general contractor friends—Innovative Office Solutions has a wide base of businesses to partner with and bring on board for new business opportunities. Now, they estimate there are 750 businesses they are skyway connected to that they currently don’t work with but look forward to engaging thanks to their proximity.
Their office is a testament to the vision they can provide their clients. The space is open, full of comfortable chairs and group seating, and its large windows on the North and East walls offers natural light and a connected feel to the energy outside. HGA and cmnd+M helped bring the space to life.
“By the time they took us through their processes, we knew exactly what people needed and what our customer tour experience needed to be,” Smith said.”
Now, Innovative Office Solutions is set up to take advantage of being in the heart of downtown, home to more than 160,000 workers and 43,000 residents while welcoming thousands of visitors each day. The exposure and opportunity are already making this a beneficial move.
“We love having a place to show all our newest stuff,” Smith said. “It’s a great place to showcase new trends in the geographic center of our industry’s local thought leaders.”
