DID pop-up hosts annual National Night Out kickoff event

The DID hosted it’s annual National Night Out kickoff event on Tuesday at their pop-up office in Gaviidae Common.  A crowd estimated at more than 2,000 stopped by for treats, games, giveaways, music, meeting local community leaders and law enforcement, and more.

Key leaders that stopped by included Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo, Hennepin County Sheriff Richard Stanek, Metro Transit Police Chief John Harrington, Minneapolis Third Ward City Council Member Steve Fletcher, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and others. Council Member Fletcher also provided a musical performance featuring covers of local artists.

The weather was good, the ice cream was cold, the crowds were huge and the fun was endless.  We are very much looking forward to this event again next year, thanks to all that came.
